"There`s a World of Music at the Tabernacle" as we celebrate Brazilian community and culture in London

Having been together in various line ups since 1989 VIRAMUNDO have enormous experience and a very large repertoire of material ranging from their own compositions to Brazilian & Latin classics. The varied & eclectic mix of Brazilian music performed by the band reflects the multiregional origins of the band members. Viramundo have played a wide range of festivals, functions & Clubs in Europe including Gran Gran Fiesta, Henley Festival, Notting Hill Carnival, and numerous University Balls.  The band has successfully helped put London Latin club nights, past and present, like Bar Salsa, Bar Madrid, Bar Tiempo, Bass Clef, HQ, Smollenskys, Guanabara, Favela Chic, La Finca, Dover St, 100 Club & many others on the map.

Viramundo have appeared on shows such as Big Breakfast TV, and Good Morning with Richard & Judy, London Tonight and were called to play for Madonna when Versace organised a party for the launch of "Evita" in London in December 1996. When Mick Jagger wanted a Brazilian band for his Birthday a few years ago the band he called first was Viramundo, as did Rolf Harris for his birthday bash.

All of which confirms Viramundo, not only as the people’s favourite, but also the favourite choice of the celebrities too.  In recognition of their pioneering and innovative contribution to African, Caribbean and Latin music in the UK, Viramundo will receive a prestigious WOM@TT Best of British award at the event . They are in excellent company as Omar, Alexander D Great and The Ruff Cutt Band have also received this award in recent months!

ABRAS  - Brazilian Association in the UK are based in the heart of the Brazilian community in London in Harlesden and provide the most comprehensive services and support to all Brazilians in the UK. “We want to create a sense of community spirit and union as well as increase the sense of ‘Brazilanness’  in each and every Brazilian here” they said. WOM@TT champions UK based African, Caribbean & Latin musicians with the most exciting and welcoming events in excellent venues with associated education opportunities

Alongside Viramundo’s sizzling performance there will also be a special Capoiera presentation by ABADA Capoiera UK, London’s foremost group, who recently appeared before 1000’s of young people at The Barbican. Led by the charismatic master Neilo (aka Graduado Manjerico), ABADA Capoiera UK will share their superb skills with a contemporary flair.
