On FRIDAY 9th December WOM@ TT Presents Best of British 2011 Finale at The Tabernacle, Powis Square, London W11 2AY from 8-11pm
Featuring Bumi Thomas and Asheber & The Afrikan Revolution with Soundz by DJ Freestyle (Colourful) and DJ Nimz.
The Awards will be presented by journalist/ broadcaster Henri Bonsu (Colourful). The event is to continue to raise awareness of the situation in East Africa where famine still rages and to raise funds for UNICEF, in association with Carnival Village and Colourful
Tickets are £8 advance/concessions and £10 at the door.
BUMI THOMAS - Best Solo Newcomer
Born in Glasgow, Scotland and based in London, Bumi Thomas is a dynamic contemporary African, acoustic Jazz Folk soul singer. whose style is inspired by her multicultural heritage. Her music explores identity, sensuality, spirituality, retrospective and multi-culturalism. It represents the journey of a modern African creative woman. Bumi`s past performances have been breathtaking as she is not afraid to take risks and gives her all as any of you who saw her at Mama Africa in March will attest!
ASHEBER & THE AFRIKAN REVOLUTION - Best Band
The Afrikan Revolution is a super group led by multi-talented musician Niles ‘Asheber’ Hailstones.
This phenomenal ensemble features many of the most innovative and influential musicians out of the UK grassroots scene.
The band officially formed in 2007, they play as if they have spent a lifetime together. Whenever this unit gathers to
celebrate creativity and upliftment, infinite musical possibilities always arise to surprise and create enjoyment, feeding the audience with their retinue of musical delights.
